Bolivia

In a letter this week, Carol states, "I wish to thank everyone, for all the e-mails and your concern for the situation here in Bolivia. Because it has been so peaceful here in Sucre, all that has been happening almost feels like it is happening somewhere else. However, I do know that the American ambassador was made to leave. The Peace Corps has pulled out all of its personnel. I just heard yesterday that the government is planning on making all American institutions leave the country. While the first two are true, I do not know, or have confirmation about the third yet. I also do not know how it will affect missionaries, if it is indeed true. As a precaution, I have stocked up on food, have several barrels of water and have even bought extra toilet paper ( I'm thinking ahead). There are some pretty important meetings today, so I do pray that peace will prevail. Please pray with us that there will be no more violence.

This past Tuesday was my 53rd birthday! I received many messages from folks wishing me a happy birthday. I had a typical Bolivian dinner-- peanut soup and spicy chicken! Very, very good! I was surprised though, to have two cakes! As you will see in one of the pictures, I escaped having my face pushed into one of the cakes, a delightful Bolivian custom! I did not escape the second time. Anyway, it was a very nice day! I received several phone calls, was surrounded by friends all day, and was even serenaded on the phone, by all the girls in the orphanage, where my daughter works! Thanks to all who made my birthday very special!

On Sept. 28th, I will once again be teaching the Deaf Sunday school class. Now I know why the Lord did not give me any peace about teaching the hearing women in our church. Please pray for me that I will be able to teach and sign in a clear manner. That it will be an encouragement to everyone. Will you pray for me also, that I will budget my time wisely so that I might accomplish the things that need to get done? I need to be sensitive to God's will in regard to all the "interruptions" that come along. I have been serving long enough to realize, that what I might think are interruptions, are sometimes God's appointments.

Serving with you in Bolivia,
Carolyn Price
